Meet My Team

Jasmine Rubio
District Director

Jasmine Rubio joined State Representative Avelar’s team in February 2021 as her Constituent

and Legislative Liaison and has since become her district director. She is a first-generation college graduate, graduating from Aurora University with her BA in Criminal Justice with a minor in Homeland Security in 2019. In 2020 she received her Master's in Public Administration.

Jasmine was a former legislative intern for Representative Kifowit and then received a

fellowship for Senator Villa’s State Senate campaign in 2020. She comes from a family that enjoys helping others, which has led Jasmine to volunteer with her local food pantry, Community Church functions, and create a career that, at its core, is centered on assisting others. She hopes to expand how she helps her community by learning different ways to make state government resources more accessible.  Jasmine’s hobbies include traveling, listening to music, and watching tv.

She is passionate about LGBTQ+ rights and advocacy and affordable housing accessibility. In her free time you can find her reading, watching New Girl for the 500th time, and spending time with her husband and 2 cats.

Citlali Cruz
Administrative Coordinator

Citlali Rosa Cruz is our Administrative Coordinator. She is a first-generation Mexican American- an identity that she feels has shaped her into the person she is today.

As a legislative administrator in Representative Avelar’s District office, her job is to help manage casework of constituents seeking assistance from our office and manage our office space so that it is functional and everyone has what they need to do their jobs well.

In her free time she loves to watch various artists she supports live, spend time with friends and family especially her beloved pet dog and turtle, and volunteers in her community whenever given the opportunity.
